The spooler just uses the Server Service for sharing the printers." Check and make sure there are no dependent services that have been changed from default settings. "The Server service is not starting in a timely fashion. I know you said "computer browser" is outdated, but I read one thread on event 315 and a user commented ( I do not know enough about the services to know if he knows what he is talking about) Even thought the spooler is "started" could it not be starting fast enough or something? Does the spooler service rely on any other services?

Event 315 seems to be about the only error I see now and it happened yesterday but as I said it didn't cause any errors on end users machines. I saw like two of the 315 error since, but I do not believe it hindered anyone from printing because I always hear about it when it does. I changed the device hardware to auto-update device drivers, my time was like 4 hours off on the server (not sure if that matters) so I will see what happens. I will keep them up on the print server for now and see what happens. Domain users have a "printers" shortcut that, when opened shows all printers. None of the printers are deployed via GPO. If there are any errors, see Active Directory Operations Overview: Troubleshooting Active Directory-Related DNS ProblemsĮven 315 was basically stopping/restarting the print spooler. On a domain controller in the same domain as the print server, type the following command at the command prompt: dcdiag /test:connectivity.To do this, open the Services snap-in from the Administrative Tools folder, select the DNS Server service, and then click the Restart Service toolbar button. If the nslookup command fails but you can ping or otherwise access the DNS server, restart the DNS Server service on the DNS server. At the command prompt, type nslookup print_server_name, where print_server_name is the computer name of the print server, and then press ENTER.To determine if this is the case, ping the DNS servers from a computer that you know is functioning properly on the network. It can also mean that the DNS servers are not configured to respond to ping requests. If you cannot ping the DNS servers, this indicates a potential problem with the DNS servers, or possibly a network problem between the print server and the DNS servers. If you can ping the loopback address but not the local IP address, there may be an issue with either the routing table or the network adapter driver. Test whether you can ping the local IP address. If the ping is unsuccessful, this may indicate a corrupt TCP/IP stack or a problem with the network adapter. Ping the loopback address of 127.0.0.1 to verify that TCP/IP is installed and correctly configured on the local computer.Make sure that the print server has an IP address in the correct IP address range, and that it does not have an Automatic Private IP Addressing (APIPA) address (an IP address in the .x range).

That couldn't cause issues could it? Feel free to smack me if that was a ridiculous question lolĪre any of those IP printers? If so, restart one of the printers, go to a computer and see if you can ping the printer from there, if so, install the printer directly in the computer using the TCP/IP route (creating a TCP port etc.), see if that works. I dount this has anythign to do with it but these are 10/100 devices and on our clients are limied to 5mbps each. Just the "sharing" errors are what is bugging me because they are all shared and listed in the directory. I even compared my print server to another on our domain but on another network, same setup and they have no issues at all. I mean every service that is supposed to be running is, I ping our server, dns, gateway, etc all without issue.

I did turn on up date drivers automatically. And when I run cable tests on the switch, nothing quaetionable returns and there are no event logs pertaining to certain port, or any ports for that matter.
